ARTISTS' BIOGRAPHIES

JEANNE L. AUSTIN(Erica Kroner)-- actor  a member of Actors’ Equity Assoc. and a valued member of Tri-State's professional ensemble, returns  for a sixth season.  Ms. Austin began Season 2001 by performing several roles in TAT's second annual New Plays Reading Series.  She will be featured during the mainstage season in the title role of Erica in ERICA'S LAST MISSION, a provocative new play by award-winning Canadian Playwright, Tevia Abrams; and will play Mary, an intrepid and experienced 19th century explorer in ON THE VERGE, or The Geography of Yearning, by Eric Overmyer.  She played Ruth in Season 2000's COLLECTED STORIES,Jeanne in ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN, and performed in Tri-State's first New Plays Reading Series.  Other TAT productions include Edward Albee’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, THREE TALL WOMEN as A, THE GLASS MENAGERIE as Amanda, Aunt Ruth in MARVIN'S ROOM and Maggie in DANCING AT LUGHNASA.   She has appeared in regional, stock and dinner theaters in roles ranging from Rosalind in AS YOU LIKE IT to Big Mama in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. A member of SAG and AFTRA, Ms. Austin has made radio and television commercials, was in the TV mini-series WOMEN IN WHITE, and had featured roles in the motion pictures THE FUNHOUSE, STUCKEY'S LAST STAND, and MOTHER AND CHILD. During the school year, she is the troupe trainer and performs as a puppeteer with an educational puppet troupe, KIDS ON THE BLOCK. Ms. Austin also directs the One Accord Choir, a vocal ensemble of developmentally disabled adults sponsored by SCARC. Since 1984, Ms. Austin has been producing one-woman plays under the name HerStory Productions, based on the lives of historic women, and most recently, WE LIVE BY THE WHISTLE, commissioned by the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. Ms. Austin and her husband live in Augusta, NJ, where they are restoring a 19th century farmhouse and tending a herd of cashmere goats.
PAUL MEACHAM ( Stanley Kroner)-- director  Mr. Meacham is the founder and artistic director of TRI-STATE ACTORS THEATER,  for which he has directed  DANCING AT LUGHNASA, MARVIN'S ROOM, THE GLASS MENAGERIE, I HATE HAMLET, A CHRISTMAS CAROLTHREE TALL WOMEN COLLECTED STORIES, the musical adaptation of Robert Fulghum's ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN. He has just completed the production of season 2001's THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE and will direct this season's ON THE VERGE.  He has staged many children's musicals, including WINNIE THE POOH, CHARLOTTE'S WEB and THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS.    He has directed and appeared professionally as an actor for nearly thirty years. Mr. Meacham performed Off-Broadway with Frank Langella and Diane Wiest in Arthur Miller's AFTER THE FALL; in FIGHTING BOB, which he also produced; in the long-running hit, THE PASSION OF DRACULA; and was a member of the acting company of the Classic Stage Company(two years), playing featured roles in TWELFTH NIGHT, THE TEMPEST, THE HOMECOMING, THE LADY'S NOT FOR BURNING, WOYZECK, ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDERNSTERN ARE DEAD and others. He was a founding member of the innovative WPA Theater, where he acted and directed for five seasons including directing the musical, CHARLATANS, for which he wrote the book and lyrics, and Tevia Abrams' AND NO CEREMONY. On television, he has appeared in commercials and on "soaps," including ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN, and adapted and produced Edgar Allen Poe's WILLIAM WILSON for the small screen. His films include HOODLUMS; PRINCE OF THE CITY; THE EYES OF LAURA MARS, THE GATE and others.  He has performed coast to coast in regional theaters including Milwaukee Repertory Theater[three years](FIGHTING BOB, the premiere of David Mamet's LAKE BOAT, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, CYRANO DE BERGERAC, BORN YESTERDAY); Barter Theater(YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU); Pennsylvania Stage (EQUUS); Cohoes Music Hall (two years)(DEATH OF A SALESMAN, OF MICE AND MEN, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST); George Street Playhouse (COUNT DRACULA, MRS. WARREN'S PROFESSION); Virginia Stage (THE CRUCIBLE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL); Missouri Repertory Theater (SIXTEEN STRINGS OF CASH, a 6th century Chinese opera directed by the renowned Chinese actor and director, Yeng Ruo-Ching); and New Jersey Shakespeare Festival (TROILUS AND CRESSIDA, A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, HENRY VIII).  Since founding Tri-State Actors Theater--then Ranger Summer Theater--in 1988, he has appeared as John Barrymore in I HATE HAMLET and was the Narrator in  A CHRISTMAS CAROL.  During last season, he appeared in, and directed two of the play-readings in TAT's first NEW PLAYS READING SERIES. He will appear in Tevia Abrams new play, ERICA'S LAST MISSION in season 2001. He has directed and produced over twenty-five student productions at Wallkill Valley High School, where he teaches English and is director(emeritus) of Ranger Theater, the student theater of Wallkill Valley. Mr. Meacham is a member of Actors Equity Association, AFTRA,  Screen Actors Guild, and The Educational Theatre Association.
DAVID VOLIN (the Lawyer)--davidvolinjoins the acting company in his inaugural season with featured roles in two productions-- the Lawyer in ERICA'S LAST MISSION, a new play by Tevia Abrams,  and Grover, the Yeti, Alphonse and others in ON THE VERGE, or The Geography of Yearning, by Eric OvermyerMr.Volin's credits include Alan, RAFT OF THE MEDUSA (New Jersey Repertory Company); Hugh, TRANSLATIONS, and Mr. Paravincini,THE MOUSETRAP (Shadow Lawn Summer Stage); Otto Frank, THE STORY OF ANNE FRANK; Yank, THE HAIRY APE; Roxy Gottlieb, GOLDEN BOY; Marquis De Sade, MARAT/SADE; several plays for the White Buffalo Theatre Company, for which he was co-founder and artistic director; the Chekhov Acting Company, and others. He has several films to his credit, including leads in FIDELIO and THE CODE. He is a graduate of NYU with a BFA in Drama, and has studied acting with Julie Garfield, Beatrice Straight, and Ted Pugh; and improvisation with Judy Nazemetz and Christopher Oyen.  Prior to joining TAT's acting company, Mr. Volin spent two months with the Bloomberg Theatre Ensemble performing in ARCADIA by Tom Stoppard.
