Free for children! March 7 & 8,
2 performances Only!
Let your imagination soar as five TRI-STATE PLAYERS take you on a whirlwind tour of Japan, Africa, Puerto Rico, and India where you will help the performers tell the tales! Your journey begins with MOUSE MARRIAGE, an antic Japanese tale of Father Mouse who searches the world to find the perfect husband for his mouse daughter, Shiro.  He seeks the Sun, the Cloud, the Wind, and even a Wall, only to discover that the best husband is right next door!  Then we’re off to Ghana for SPIDER TALK, a rollicking tale of a mischievous spider who loves to play tricks on the Ashanti villagers with hilarious results. The adventure continues as we travel to Puerto Rico to hear CRICKET SONG, a sad but comic tale of Canita the Cricket's yearning for Carlos the songbird. This romantic tale is acted through song and sounds with the help of the audience!  Finally, we land in India for the wacky comedy TIGER TRAP, in which a ferocious but silly tiger tries to eat a silly Brahmin but is outwitted by an even sillier Jackal!  RECOMMENDED AUDIENCE: K-8--LENGTH: 60 minutes.MARCH 7-8 AT the CRESCENT THEATER  [DIRECTIONS]

FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY!

THE STORY:

You may ask, what is a Golliwhopper? It's a tall tale, a folktale in the robust American tradition of Paul Bunyon and his Blue Ox, Babe.
GOLLIWHOPPERS, by Flora B. Atkin, also includes: a sun legend from  a western native American tribe, an Appalachian mountain ballad  celebrating American virtues, and a stretched out story - you couldn't call  it a lie - that captures the exuberance our country's early days. All four  tales
are told through dialogue, mime, ballad, dance and puppetry.

Performances for GOLLIWHOPPERS will be held  Wednesday through
Saturday, July 16 - 19 at 11 am; Friday, July 25 at 7  pm; Saturday, July
26 at 2 pm; Saturday, August 2, and Friday, August 8  at 11 am.

Presented by the Intern Acting Company of Tri-State Actors Theater.

The  story of JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, as told by Phyllis McCallum,  needs no introduction, this version of the familiar folktale introduces an assortment of characters. Jack's father has been kidnapped by the terrible  giant who lives in the clouds. To save his family from starvation, Jack must sell their beloved cow, Buttercup; but ends up trading for a handful of beans. The beans are magic, of course... and sprout into a beanstalk which reaches into the sky. With the help of his good fairy, Frippery, Jack  saves his father and destroys the evil giant. Young audiences will be  enchanted by the magic of these popular and exciting scenes and characters.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK will have performances  Friday, July 18 at 7 pm; Saturday, July 19 at 2 pm; Wednesday through  Saturday, July 23 - 26 at 11 am; Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 9  at 11 am. Tickets are general admission: $7 for ages 11 and under, $9 for  ages 12 and over.

Presented by the Intern Acting Company of Tri-State Actors Theater.

THE STORY--
Marie Jones'acclaimed new comedy Stones in his Pockets.
Set in a small sleepy village in  Ireland, where a big-budget Hollywood movie is being shot, the hard-luck heroes of "Stones" are Charlie Conlon (played by Brian O'Halloran)  and Jake Quinn (played by Eric Singer), small- town Irishmen in County Kerry who, like most of the locals, have signed on as extras for the big-budget film being shot there. This affords them not only well-paying jobs, which they sorely need, but also a chance to gawk at the movie makers and fantasize about joining their glamorous ranks. As they struggle to find a sense of reality in a world crazed by celebrity, disillusion of course is waiting off camera, fueled by Jake's flirtation with a lusty screen goddess and by a local death that the visitors from Hollywood dismiss as a professional inconvenience. STONES was inspired by Marie Jones' own experience as an actor in films shot in Ireland, including 1993's "In the Name of the Father . Charlie and Jake hilariously relate their experiences of life as extras as theactors "become" the stuffy English director of the film, the flighty American star and her entourage, assistant directors, other extras,  and hangers on - the diverse population of a movie on location.

STONES IN HIS POCKETS will have 13 performances, August 13 through August 31. Evening performances are at 8:00 pm, Sunday  matinees at 3:00 pm. Tickets range from $13.00 for preview  performances to $25.00 on opening night. The Crescent Theater seats 99 and advance reservations are  recommended. For guaranteed reservations with Visa and MC or more information, call the Box Office at 973 875-2950 or visit TAT on the web at www.tristateactorstheater.org. Group rates are available.
