BIOS  --  ON THE VERGE
JEANNE L. AUSTIN(Mary)-- actor  a member of Actors’ Equity Assoc. and a valued member of Tri-State's professional ensemble, returns  for a sixth season.  Ms. Austin began Season 2001 by performing several roles in TAT's second annual New Plays Reading Series.  She was featured during the mainstage season in the title role of Erica in ERICA'S LAST MISSION, a provocative new play by award-winning Canadian Playwright, Tevia Abrams; and will play Mary, an intrepid and experienced 19th century explorer in ON THE VERGE, or The Geography of Yearning, by Eric Overmyer.  She was Ruth in Season 2000's COLLECTED STORIES, Jeanne in ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN, and performed in Tri-State's first New Plays Reading Series.  Other TAT productions include Edward Albee’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, THREE TALL WOMEN as A, THE GLASS MENAGERIE as Amanda, Aunt Ruth in MARVIN'S ROOM and Maggie in DANCING AT LUGHNASA.   She has appeared in regional, stock and dinner theaters in roles ranging from Rosalind in AS YOU LIKE IT to Big Mama in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. A member of SAG and AFTRA, Ms. Austin has been heard on radio and seen in television commercials, was in the TV mini-series WOMEN IN WHITE, and had featured roles in the motion pictures THE FUNHOUSE, STUCKEY'S LAST STAND, and MOTHER AND CHILD. During the school year, she is the troupe trainer and performs as a puppeteer with an educational puppet troupe, KIDS ON THE BLOCK. Ms. Austin also directs the One Accord Choir, a vocal ensemble of developmentally disabled adults sponsored by SCARC. Since 1984, Ms. Austin has been producing one-woman plays under the name HerStory Productions, based on the lives of historic women, and most recently, WE LIVE BY THE WHISTLE, commissioned by the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. Ms. Austin and her husband live in Augusta, NJ, where they are restoring a 19th century farmhouse and tending a herd of cashmere goats.
AMANDA JONES (Alex)--amandajoneswill perform the role of Alex in Season 2001's final production, ON THE VERGE, or The Geography of Yearning.  Appearing  with Tri-State, Ms. Jones joined Tri-State for the first time during Season 2000 in the role of Sylvia, the hilarious pooch, who gives its name to SYLVIA, by A.R. Gurney.  Ms. Jones, a founding member of The Genesis Repertory Ensemble in NYC, was featured most recently as one of the Wierd Sisters in GRE's MACBETH.  She was Juliet in ROMEO AND JULIET, Bianca in OTHELLO, and Edith in THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE--all for GRE.  She appeared as Ophelia (HAMLET) and Sarah (WHISKEY DOWN)in the Million Stories Festival, and was Gwendolyn in Tom Stoppard's TRAVESTIES.  Other roles on the New York stage include Mattie in ENVIRONMENT AND EVELYN, and Luce in THE KNIGHT OF THE BURNING PESTLE.  Beyond New York, she has played Belinda Cratchit (A CHRISTMAS CAROL) for the North Shore Music Theater, and was featured in other roles including Angie (TOP GIRLS); Thomasina (ARCADIA); Hermia (A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM); Christina (DANCING AT LUGHNASA), and Marianne (TARTUFFE).  Ms. Jones is a graduate in Theatre of Dartmouth College, and has studied acting with Karen Kohlhaas (Atlantic Theater Co.) and vocal production  with Ariel Bock (Shakespeare and Co). 
KRISTIN REEVES  (Fanny)--k reevesportrayed Kate in A.R. Gurney's comedy, SYLVIA, during Season 2000, and will return in Season 2001 as Fanny in Eric Overmyer's ON THE VERGE.  Her NY credits include SIMPLE DEATH for Ubu Repertory, THE LIVING SECTION, Bayou Musical Theatre, DREAMS OF THE SON at the Westside Theatre; and ROUNDHEADS AND PEEKHEADS for the Classic Theatre.  Regionally, Ms. Reeves has performed Juliet(ROMEO AND JULIET) and Julia(TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA) at the Old Globe Theatre, San Diego; Lady Macbeth(MACBETH);  Rosalind(AS YOU LIKE IT); Olivia(TWELFTH NIGHT) and other shakespearean roles at the Nevada Shakespeare Festival; THE UTTER GLORY OF MORRISEY HALL for the Pacific Conservatory of  Performing Arts; several plays for the Hilberry Repertory Theatre (Michigan), including  PYGMALION(Eliza Doolittle); ABSURD PERSON SINGULAR(Eva), and LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL(Laura).  At the Richard Basehart Theatre in Los Angeles, she played among others, Titiana in A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM  and Miss Casewell in THE MOUSETRAP.  On television, Ms. Reeves played recurring roles on LOVING and   GENERAL HOSPITAL, and was featured on MIAMI VICE.  She has appeared in films (POWER/ AUTHOR,   AUTHOR/ AMITYVILLE II) and has been heard on National Public Radio. She holds an MFA in Theatre from Wayne State University, and is a member of Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild.
DAVID VOLIN (Grover, the Yeti, Alphonse, and others)--davidvolinjoins the acting company in his inaugural season with featured roles in two productions-- the Lawyer in ERICA'S LAST MISSION, a new play by Tevia Abrams,  and Grover, the Yeti, Alphonse and others in ON THE VERGE, or The Geography of Yearning, by Eric Overmyer. Mr.Volin's credits include Alan, RAFT OF THE MEDUSA (New Jersey Repertory Company); Hugh, TRANSLATIONS, and Mr. Paravincini,THE MOUSETRAP (Shadow Lawn Summer Stage); Otto Frank, THE STORY OF ANNE FRANK; Yank, THE HAIRY APE; Roxy Gottlieb, GOLDEN BOY; Marquis De Sade, MARAT/SADE; several plays for the White Buffalo Theatre Company, for which he was co-founder and artistic director; the Chekhov Acting Company, and others. He has several films to his credit, including leads in FIDELIO and THE CODE. He is a graduate of NYU with a BFA in Drama, and has studied acting with Julie Garfield, Beatrice Straight, and Ted Pugh; and improvisation with Judy Nazemetz and Christopher Oyen.  Prior to joining TAT's acting company, Mr. Volin spent two months with the Bloomberg Theatre Ensemble performing in ARCADIA by Tom Stoppard.
